Claims (METHOD AND MEANS FOR CREATING ANTI-GRAVITY ILLUSION)

2016

Pigment print, coffee, tea on paper, 8 sheets, each 45,5 x 30,5 cm, Städtische Sammlung Erlangen

The eight sheets give the impression of a secret construction plan for an obscure object. The yellowed and wavy paper emphasizes the impression. In fact, this work is part of a series by Frohne-Brinkmann in which he reproduces real patents for magic tricks and entertainment devices and artificially ages them with coffee and tea using a children's trick - comparable to the production of “old” treasure maps.

How does the feeling towards an object change depending on the aura of the real or the knowledge of the fake? Frohne-Brinkmann frequently explores such questions in his work. Incidentally, the patent shown here is a reproduction of Michael Jackson's magic shoes from 1993.
