I do care about that!
Shooting stars, stars in one’s hair, and stars in the spotlight. In the exhibition Dreck unter den Nägeln, stars appear repeatedly, as if accompanying us through the rooms. In one painting, countless new stars tumble out of a star’s mouth. The star's gaze conveys astonishment, confusion or perhaps even slight surprise.
Eva Nüßlein’s works speak of emotions — those that appear suddenly, like shooting stars, and those that linger longer. Emotions we know well and those we may yet discover. Together, we will explore the exhibition and discuss the emotions we encounter and those that move us. In the museum studio, we’ll take a closer look at the worlds of stars and emotions depicted in the artworks. We’ll ask ourselves which emotions are important to us and which ones we truly care about. Then we’ll let all of that flow into our own colourful world of shooting stars.Registration required

Face it!
In Eva Nüßlein’s exhibition, we are greeted by many gazes. Young women look directly at us—with large, shining eyes. They express a range of emotions, and accompany us through the exhibition. Whether alone or in groups, the figures stand out because of their stark contrasts and comic-book-like style. Particularly striking are their colourful hair, their tear-streaked cheeks, and their eyes, which sparkle at us with glittering stones full of anticipation. We ask ourselves: Who are these figures? Is it always the same person, or someone different each time? What stories are they telling us?
In the studio, we’ll get creative ourselves and design our own portrait. Using bright colours, paper, and the occasional rhinestone, we’ll create entirely new faces. It’s all about experimenting, reimagining, and transforming!

Lost in Detail ...
In Eva Nüßlein’s exhibition, we are surrounded by striking, large-format paintings that captivate us simply because of their size. But the closer we look, the more there is to discover. We immerse ourselves in these vividly colourful visual worlds and let our gaze wander: over hair, bell-bottom pants, flowers, stars, and shoes. Details emerge everywhere—hidden, for example, under the trampoline, under the table, or under the nails—and suddenly catch our eye, as if they’d been just waiting to be discovered. In this workshop, we’ll follow precisely these clues. Inspired by the artist’s work, we’ll gather ideas, explore her distinctive visual language, and discover the interplay of vibrant colors, shapes, and unique details. Using individual image details, we’ll develop our own fragmentary drawings—colorful close-ups that focus entirely on the special details within the images.

Flared Pants, Ladybugs and Shooting Stars
There is an incredible amount to discover in Eva Nüßlein’s works — the longer you look, the more details you will notice. Time and again, long legs in stylish trousers and striking boots appear to jut out of the paintings. Elsewhere, a shooting star pulls a figure into the sky, where thunderclouds, lightning and a skull swirl around.
In the workshop, we will examine the large-format paintings in more detail, paying special attention to their distinctive forms. Afterwards, we’ll get creative ourselves in the workshop room: Using modelling clay, we will explore the artist’s visual language and experiment with our own ideas. The focus will be on trying things out, creating and shaping.
