Anna K.E. and Florian Meisenberg share an interest in the latest technologies and their impact on the analog and digital world. Meisenberg began his artistic career as a painter, Anna K.E. is a trained dancer and expresses herself primarily in videos, performances and photographs. Their artistic strategies are therefore very different, but they share an affinity for a contemporary aesthetic inspired by smooth, reflective surfaces and computer-generated colors.
In Countdown Belladonna, they use a high-resolution macro camera to film their irises reflecting their cell phone screens. In a well-curated hour, the two artists give us insights into their favorite scenes from various feature films and documentaries as well as their YouTube favorites. The reflection impressively illustrates how countless images pass through our eyeballs every day and how a flow of unfiltered information rushes straight into our heads.
