Alona Rodeh

Safe and Sound: High Visibility

2017

Acrylic glass on MDF, each 34,5 x 24,5 cm, Municipal Collection Erlangen

In her works, Alona Rodeh deals with a variety of media, which, however, rarely appear as independent forms of expression. Rather, they network, link and “reflect” each other in the truest sense of the word. The series Safe and Sound: High Visibility comments on the many variations of graphic representations that are omnipresent in our everyday lives but are often overlooked.

Rodeh's works often play with the tipping point between danger and lust for life: the wall works can be understood as hints of uniforms or high-visibility vests. Bright neon colors and reflective surfaces also found their way into the UK rave scene in the 1980s and 90s, lighting up its nightclubs.
