We want to rouse interest and generate excitement for contemporary art in children, teenagers, adults, and families! For this exact purpose, the art education department of the Kunstpalais offers a diversified accompanying program for each of our exhibitions—depending on the occasion, exhibition, and content of the art.

Our extensive program includes guided tours, art talks, practical workshops, lectures, artists’ workshops, movie nights, and activities for all visitors from age 0 to 100. Targeted programs, interactive and open structures allow for a diverse approach to art and adjustments to the individual’s needs.
For educational institutions like schools, kindergartens, day care centers, and study groups the educational department of the Kunstpalais develops guided tours and workshops for each exhibition that are coordinated with the individual syllabus. This way the contact between contemporary art and school is facilitated.

Guided Tours

The Kunstpalais offers guided tours for children, teenagers, and adults. Content and aim of our guided tours are tailored to the participantsʼ needs. In an open dialogue with the visitors, our professional art mediators touch upon the artworks, their meaning, and conception, as well as the artists and their techniques. We offer new perspectives, fascinating insights, and one or two aha-moments. Below you can find information about our wide-ranging program of guided tours.

Sunday tour
Every last Sunday of the month at 4 p.m., we offer a public tour where you can learn more about contemporary art and artists. For 60 minutes, you can immerse yourself in the exhibition(s) together with our museum educators and ask any questions you may have. Exciting information about the concept, the works, and their significance will give you a broader view of the exhibition.

Curator's tour
During the curator's tour, you will have the special opportunity to talk to the curator of the respective exhibition. Here you will gain personal insights into the selection and hanging of the works, the conception of the exhibition, and, above all, the curator's enthusiasm for the artist. Curator's tours take place at the beginning and end of the exhibition period.

Foreign language tours
We also offer foreign language tours on request. Our art educators speak English, French, Italian, and Russian. We are constantly working to expand our foreign language offerings.

    Walk & Talk mit Friederike Girst

    Für diese Führung der besonderen Art lädt sich das Kunstpalais einen Gast ein. Dieses Mal ist dies Prof. Friederike Girst, Grafikdesignerin, Professorin der AdBK Nürnberg, Artdirektorin, Agenturinhaberin und nicht zuletzt langjährige Wegbegleiterin Christoph Niemanns. Beim Gang durch die Ausstellung mit Museumsleiterin Amely Deiss geben die beiden besondere Einblicke in das Werk Christoph Niemanns und die Besonderheiten des Gestalter*innenlebens.

    Friederike Girst lehrt an der Akademie der Bildenden Künste in Nürnberg Kommunikations-Design. Sie war Art Directorin der National Post Toronto und dem Magazin der Süddeutschen Zeitung und arbeitete als Designerin u.a. für den New Yorker. 2013 gründete sie das Studio Umlaut, ein Büro für Kommunikations- und Gestaltungsstrategien.

Bei unserer Sonntagsführung erhalten Sie spannende Einblicke in die große Einzelausstellung Auf den Punkt des Ausnahme-Illustrators und -Zeichners Christoph Niemann. Mit wenigen Strichen – teils mit Objekten, teils ganz pur – schafft der deutsche Grafikdesigner Christoph Niemann überraschende, humorvolle Bilder, die die Wirklichkeit präzise auf den Punkt bringen. Scharfsinnig und vielseitig ergründen und kommentieren seine Werke kreative Prozesse und das moderne Leben.     Drink & Draw mit Jeff Chi

    Ein kreativer Abend in geselliger Runde – erlaubt ist, was gefällt. In munterer Gesellschaft wird gezeichnet, getrunken und geredet. Egal ob Anfänger oder Profi, im Mittelpunkt stehen Kreativität, Austausch und Spaß. Mit dabei ist der preisgekrönte Nürnberger Comic-Zeichner Jeff Chi, der für Plausch und Ratschläge paratsteht.

    Bei all dem sitzt man in der Ausstellung Auf den Punkt, und kann sich inspirieren lassen von den Sunday Sketches von Christoph Niemann; gute Musik läuft – und zu Beginn gibt es auch noch eine kurze Impulsführung.

    Jeff Chi (*1993 in Kiel) hat über viele Jahre die Cartoon-Serie "Im Hinterkopf" in Nürnberger Nachrichten & Nürnberger Zeitung veröffentlicht. Im Jahr 2022 wurde sein Debüt „Who’s the Scatman?“ mit dem Max-&-Moritz-Preis ausgezeichnet
