Art Education ― alive and diverse
more

The Kulturfüchse (literally ‘culture fox’, we mean all the kids who are smart and interested in culture) are an innovative art mediation program for early childhood education. Starting from the words “cultural home” the participating children explore and experience the local institutions of the city of Erlangen, so they can become a fixed part of their everyday childhood life.
In four years of school, the elementary school children undergo a modular program as part of the school’s syllabus that establishes the theater and Kunstpalais as out-of-school places of learning that will pave the way for a long-lasting access to culture.
Every Kulturfuchs in their early childhood development gets the chance to experience art in an age-appropriate and playful way, to strengthen their skills and to lay the foundation for their future lives.
The Kulturfüchse are a cooperation project that was started in 2015 through the collaboration of the Hermann-Hedenus-Elementary School, Kunstpalais, and Theater Erlangen. From 2015 to 2019, the project was supported by the Stiftung Brandenburger Tor within the project Kunst und Spiele by the Robert Bosch Stiftung. Since 2020 the city of Erlangen is responsible for the project. Since the beginning of the school year 2019/2020 the Mönauschule is also a project partner of the Kulturfüchse. At present, there are over 400 Kulturfüchse in Erlangen! And every year new ones join!
