Voluntary Social Year
What do you find interesting about art? What do you want to express with your own art?
I am particularly interested in digital art and the ability of telling stories through images and illustrations. In my opinion every image tells a story. Doesn’t matter whether it’s a photo, a panel in a comic, traditional art, or a digital illustration. It is fascinating as well as impressing how every artist, with equal preconditions, presents themselves differently and individually tells their story.
How did you find your way to Kunstpalais?
I’m actually from Baden-Wuerttemberg, so this voluntary social year here at Kunstpalais is not exactly right around the corner. However, it was important to me to do something different after graduating from high school and since Corona was just becoming a big topic, I decided to do a voluntary year before starting my studies, which I hope will take place somewhere abroad. However, it was clear to me that I wouldn’t want to do a conventional social year, but that it should have to do with my passion. Unfortunately, in Baden-Wuerttemberg the cultural social year is not yet quite so well represented, and so I ended up in the homeland of my ancestors (more specifically my father’s). The team of Kunstpalais seemed incredibly likable at first glance and this impression holds true even after closer inspection. In the end, my first job interview ended up also being my last.
What would you like to do if you were given everything?
I would probably travel around the world and stock up on food from a wide variety of cultures. I would use these various different impressions to draw my comic, let off steam creatively, and fill my vegan food blog with delicious recipes from all over the world.
